Audrey Bready

Audrey began her dance journey at age 6 to join her best friend, Jessica, at the Austin Conservatory of Dance, where she studied ballet and jazz for two years. At age 8, Audrey joined the newly formed Deborah Martin Dance Academy (previously known as the Doria Avila Dance Academy and now known as the Deborah Case Dance Academy) where she studied ballet and folklorico. Audrey achieved an improtant milestone and obtained her pointe shoes at age 12, and was employed by DCDA as a dance assistant. After Audrey's attendance of the summer intensive at the Vail International Dance Festival in 2000, she was awarded the role of Dew Drop in The Nutcracker at the age of 13. At the time, was the most difficult role a student would perform in the Rio Grande Valley Ballet's version of The Nutcracker. Audrey's accomplishment led her to seek out a world-class arts education at the boarding school, Interlochen Arts Academy. Upon acceptance, she was also accepted into the summer camp at the prestigious Interlochen Center of the Arts. Audrey attended Interlochen beginning the fall of 2001 and graduated in 2004. The Interlochen Dance department, under the direction of Sharon Randolph, afforded Audrey the opportunity to experience a world-class arts education which informed her performance and teaching skills. After high school, Audrey continued her training at Cornish College of the Arts, where she earned a bachelor of fine arts degree. Audrey’s pathway through Cornish’s dance program emphasized anatomically-sound technique based on efficient movement mechanics and the understanding of personal physical facility. Her training included courses in kinesiology and injury prevention which allows for maximizing a dancer’s physical potential. Early influences on Audrey’s dance journey included Wendy Masterson who she met at summer camp at the Vail International Dance Festival and Kitty Daniels, Cornish College of the Arts Dance Department Chair.
